Scripps National Spelling Bee

continues its commitment to education with its support of the 80th annual Scripps National Spelling Bee,
during Bee Week to be held May 30-31, 2007 in Washington, D.C.
Franklin will present the Spelling Ace Trophy and a $5,000 cash prize to this year's National Spelling Bee champion.
Franklin will also be awarding the top ten finalists with a limited edition electronic Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary
and Thesaurus. Additionally, every Spelling Bee participant will receive assorted Franklin gear and a $20 gift certificate
that can be used to purchase products at www.franklin.com.

Franklin has awarded past winners, Kerry Close, Anurag Kashyap and David Tidmarsh, with the Spelling Ace Award which has become a
Bee tradition. This year 286 finalists, representing all 50 U.S. states and several countries, will descend upon Washington,
D.C. for the national finals to compete for Spelling Ace Award and for the honor of being called "National Champion."
About The Scripps National Spelling Bee
The Scripps National Spelling Bee is administered year-round on a not-for-profit basis by Scripps and 264 local
sponsors. The National Spelling Bee was launched by the Louisville, Kentucky, Courier-Journal in 1925.
The majority of local spelling bee sponsors are daily and weekly newspapers. At the time of the competition,
contestants must be under sixteen years of age and not yet promoted beyond the eighth grade.
