FRANKLIN ELECTRONIC PUBLISHERS REPORTS PROFITABLE SECOND QUARTER RESULTS

BURLINGTON, NEW JERSEY – November 13, 2009 – Franklin Electronic Publishers, Inc. (NYSE AMEX:FEP), a world leader in electronic handheld information, today reported net income of $140,000 or $0.02 per share for the fiscal 2010 second quarter ended September 30, 2009 compared to a net loss of $231,000 or $0.03 per share in the same quarter last year. Sales in the current period declined 10% to $11,137,000 from $12,434,000 in the prior year. During the current fiscal quarter all operating subsidiaries, experienced a decline in sales with the exception of the Company’s technology licensing Proximity Division, which experienced increased sales revenue during the quarter. Sales in our European operations continued to decline due to the lingering global recession’s impact on consumer confidence and its impact on the retail markets as well as from the phasing out of older products and the transitioning into enhanced or new models. Sales from the North American operations also decreased as a result of a weaker year over year back to school season.

FRANKLIN ELECTRONIC PUBLISHERS REPORTS FIRST QUARTER RESULTS

BURLINGTON, NEW JERSEY – August 13, 2009 – Franklin Electronic Publishers, Inc. (NYSE AMEX Equities US:FEP), a world leader in electronic handheld information, today reported a net income of $123,000 or $0.01 per share for the fiscal 2010 first quarter ended June 30, 2009 up from a net loss of $1,163,000 or $0.14 per share in the same quarter last year. Sales in the current period declined 11% to $10,620,000 from $11,993,000 in the prior year. The decline in sales was primarily from the Company’s North American and European operations, with North America posting the biggest decline. Ongoing pressure from the depressed global economic climate continues to negatively impact global retail sell through. Total gross margin as a percentage of sales increased one percentage point to 50% from 49% reported in the same period last year. The Company's total operating costs and expenses decreased $1,453,000 or 22% percent, benefiting from the cost cutting initiatives implemented during fiscal year 2009. Operating income increased to $181,000 compared to an operating loss of $707,000 during the same period last year.

FRANKLIN ELECTRONIC PUBLISHERS REPORTS YEAR END RESULTS

BURLINGTON, NEW JERSEY – June 03, 2009 Franklin Electronic Publishers, Incorporated (NYSE AMEX Equities US:FEP), a world leader in electronic handheld information, today reported results for its fiscal year ended March 31, 2009. The Company reported a net loss of $7,128,000, or $.86 per share, for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2009 compared with net income of $2,535,000, or $.31 per share, last year. The current year’s loss includes non-cash one-time charges of $4,119,000 as well as other one-time charges of $1,404,000. The non-cash charges related to impairment to the carrying value of goodwill allocated to the Company’s data conversion subsidiary, Kreutzfeldt Electronic Publishing GmbH (KEP) in Germany, impairment of the value of Franklin’s licensed Rolodex® Electronics trademark, the partial write-down of future tax benefits related to the Company’s deferred tax asset and inventory valuation adjustment related to the current economic climate. The other one-time charges related to severance accruals as a result of the reduction in the Company’s global workforce and other operating cost reductions and costs related to the liquidation of the Company’s subsidiary KEP. Excluding the impact of the one-time charges, the Company’s net loss for the fiscal year 2009 would have been $1,605,000.

Excluding the impact of the SII payment, net income for the quarter ended September 30, 2007 would have been $382,000 or $.05 per share. Sales for the second fiscal quarter of 2009 decreased 17% to $12,434,000 from $14,980,000 for the same quarter in the prior year.

FRANKLIN REPORTS PROFIT FOR THREE MONTH PERIOD ENDED DECEMBER 31

BURLINGTON, New Jersey – February 13, 2007 – Franklin Electronic Publishers, Incorporated (AMEX:FEP) reported pre-tax income of $553,000 for its third fiscal quarter ended December 31, 2006 compared with $2,106,000 in the prior year quarter. Revenue for the current period was $17,179,000 compared with $17,894,000 in the prior year period. The prior year quarter included $1,800,000 of revenue and $1,740,000 of gross margin from the renewal of a three year technology licensing agreement by the Company’s Proximity licensing division. The pre-tax income of $553,000 for the current quarter is a 51% increase from the prior period pre-tax income of $366,000, without the contract renewal revenue. Net income for the current quarter was $393,000 or $.05 per share, compared with $1,995,000 or $.23 per share, after preferred stock dividends, in the prior year period.

(AMEX:FEP) reported a net loss of $1,039,000 or $.13 per common share for the quarter ended June 30, 2006 compared with net income of $898,000, or $.10 per share after preferred stock dividends, for the quarter ended June 30, 2005. Revenue in the current period declined to $11,785,000 from $17,652,000 in the prior year. Revenue and net income in the prior period included $1,700,000 and $662,000, respectively, attributable to the delivery of technology pursuant to a development and licensing agreement.

FRANKLIN REPORTS INCREASED EARNINGS FOR THREE AND NINE MONTH PERIODS ENDED DECEMBER 31ST.

BURLINGTON, New Jersey - February 7, 2006 - Franklin Electronic Publishers, Incorporated (AMEX:FEP) reported that pre-tax income increased 39% to $2,058,000 for its third fiscal quarter ended December 31, 2005 from $1,477,000 in the prior year quarter. For the nine month period ended December 31st, pre-tax income increased 16% to $3,852,000 from $3,307,000 in the prior year. Net income for the quarter was $1,947,000 or $.22 per share, after preferred stock dividends, compared with $1,409,000 or $.15 per share, after preferred stock dividends, for the prior year period. Net income for the nine months ended December 31, 2005 increased to $3,664,000 or $.42 per share, after preferred stock dividends, compared to $3,133,000 or $.33 per share, after preferred stock dividends, for the prior year period.

Franklin Electronic Publishers Reports Closing of Sale and Leaseback of its Headquarters Building

BURLINGTON, New Jersey – January 19, 2006 – Franklin Electronic Publishers, Inc. (AMEX:FEP) reported today that the transaction for the sale of its headquarters building for $10,300,000 closed on January 18, 2006. Franklin has leased back the building for 10 years. The lease provides for an initial annual rental payment of $736,000. The Company will realize a gain on the sale of approximately $4,800,000 which will be amortized over the period of the lease. The net proceeds from the sale will be used to retire all of the Company’s outstanding Preferred Shares for $2,434,000, and for additional working capital.

(AMEX:FEP) reported a forty-five percent increase in net income to $2,403,000, or $.24 per common share for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2005 compared with net income of $1,652,000 or $.15 per common share, in the prior year. Income in the current period included a gain of $1,781,000 from the sale of the Company's 25% interest in the French software developer Mobipocket.com S.A. and a charge of $1,531,000 for impairment in the carrying value of the Company's license agreement for the ROLODEX® Electronics trademark.
